Donald Trump withdraws endorsement of G7 joint statement, slams Trudeau

G-7 split over Trump's call to readmit Russia

US President Donald Trump railed against trade practices he called unfair to the United States at a Group of Seven nations summit where leaders agreed on Saturday to fight protectionism and reform the World Trade Organisation.

The two men also traded jibes on Twitter in the build-up to the summit in Canada, which has been soured by Trump's decision to impose tariffs on steel and aluminum exports from the European Union.

President Trump on Saturday said the United States will not endorse a G7 communique via a tweet accusing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of making "false statements".

The President's move to reject the communique followed a statement from Trudeau earlier, in which the prime minister announced, "We have released a joint communique by all seven countries" indicating that the United States had signed on.

Kudlow says Trudeau's actions were a "sophomoric play" and says the prime minister stabbed his US allies in the back, which he argues did a great disservice to the whole G7.

"People can't charge us 270 percent and we charge them nothing, that doesn't work anymore", he said.

Trump said he pushed for the elimination of trade barriers, including subsidies and tariffs, at the G-7 meeting.

He denied that the summit had been contentious, a remark that contradicted what one G7 official described as an "extraordinary" exchange on Friday. The Crimea annexation in 2014 resulted in the leading world powers excluding Russian Federation from the club and becoming the G-7 again.

G-7 split over Trump's call to readmit Russia

Trudeau's office responded to Trump's tweet saying "We are focused on everything we accomplished here at the #G7 summit".

Europe, Canada and Japan are largely united in opposition to Trump's protectionism while trying to find ways to bridge the divide and avoid rupturing the G7, which in its 42-year history has tended to seek consensus on economic and other issues.

"I think President Trump knows that".

Trump repeated a list of grievances about US trade, mainly with the European Union and Canada, a French presidency official told reporters.

But, he said, the US could no longer tolerate "brutal" deals, even threatening to tear up the North American Free Trade Agreement if he didn't get his way. He said that Canada has to stand up for itself. Why are we having a meeting without them? "I think it would be good for all of the countries of the current G7".

Trump will meet with Macron and Trudeau face-to-face on Friday.

While the G7 chiefs have largely praised Trump for his efforts to stabilise the Korean peninsula, they are unhappy he pulled out of an global agreement created to limit Iran's nuclear ambitions.

Warriors not happy with Kendrick Perkins' 'dangerous' bench incident with Stephen Curry
Then again, nobody in the league, let alone the Cavs , has an answer for Curry when he's shooting as well as he did Sunday night. They put up a great fight in the first quarter; they even had the lead down to single digits multiple times in the second half.
