Roger Federer, Serena Williams in Wimbledon masterclass as Caroline Wozniacki crashes

Sweden's king and Switzerland's tennis king

Roger Federer has advanced to a record-extending 16th Wimbledon quarterfinal with a 6-0 7-5 6-4 victory over Adrian Mannarino of France.

Over the past week none of Roger Federer's opponents needed to play on a court with a retractable roof as Wimbledon has been roasting in 30 degrees Celsius temperatures.

The Australian Open champion went out before the third round for the fourth time in seven years, losing 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 to Ekaterina Makarova of Russian Federation after complaining to the chair umpire about the insects that invaded No. 1 court during the second set.

"I'm more concerned the World Cup final will have issues because the Wimbledon final is going on".

Agassi, a victor of eight grand slam titles in a stellar career, is at a loss to explain Federer's incredible achievements.

Federer has now won 32 straight sets at Wimbledon, two shy of his career best in 2005-06.

Federer sauntered on to court to a huge ovation and treated his army of fans to a masterclass in a first set that lasted a mere 20 minutes.

"They know I play a lot of tennis, but they won't know what my ranking would be", Federer told a news conference. It was the first time the eight-time Wimbledon champion had worn the brand publicly, but organizers said he didn't violate any of their strict rules in regards to using the tournament for marketing purposes.

Gael Monfils overcame Paolo Lorenzi 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (3) to set up a third-round meeting with 2017 Wimbledon semifinalist Sam Querrey.

A couple of TV satellite trucks were parked across the street, and about three dozen members of the media filled the courtroom. The 66-year-old was brought into NY state Supreme Court wearing handcuffs, but he was uncuffed during proceedings.

Del Potro was leading 7-6 (7/1), 7-6 (7/5), 5-7 when his tie with Simon was halted for the night due to darkness. The Spaniard beat Jiri Vesely 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 on Centre Court to return to the last eight for the first time since 2011 when he was runner-up to Novak Djokovic. The 6ft 10in American served a world-record 113 aces in his remarkable marathon against Nicolas Mahut in 2010, when he won 70-68 in the final set, and has fired down exactly that number over three matches this year. Given how effortless he contrives to make the sport look, it boggles the mind that some questioned whether he would even last until the 2012 Games. "It was dark so I couldn't see the ball that well and it was very windy".

It will be Djokovic's 41st appearance in a Grand Slam quarter-final and he will start favourite against Nishikori who will be in his first last-eight at the All England Club.

Former Wimbledon finalist Agnieszka Radwanska lost 7-5, 6-4 to Czech world number 66 Lucie Safarova.

Williams was almost as good, losing just five of 32 points on her first serve in a 6-1, 6-4 win over Viktoriya Tomova.

"That's something I've always wanted to do".

"I guess it was like a huge reveal, wasn't it?" said Mick Desmond, the commercial and media director for the All England Club.

The Latvian player also reached the quarterfinals previous year in her best Wimbledon showing, losing to eventual runner-up Venus Williams.

Rafael Nadal reached the Wimbledon quarterfinals for the first time since 2011. He hit 19 winners, including six aces, and just five unforced errors in the first set.
