Aussie teen sparks FBI action after hacking Apple

Customers walk past an Apple logo inside of an Apple store at Grand Central Station in New York US

The boy accessed Apple's mainframe from his suburban Melbourne home several times over a year because he was a fan of the U.S. company and dreamed of working there, The Age reports, citing his lawyer.

The teen downloaded 90 gigabytes of secure files and accessed customer accounts without exposing his identity. The data that had been downloaded was apparently stored in a folder named "hacky hack hack".

He also shared details of how he performed the hacks with a group on WhatsApp.

Apple was able to block the teen's access to its systems once it detected his presence.

The federal police said it could not comment on the case as it is still before the court. A mobile phone along with a hard drive were also seized. The company's systems are thought by some to be unbreachable, but the 16-year-old proved nothing is impossible.

The major worldwide investigation was sparked when Apple contacted the FBI, who passed the allegations on to the AFP.

On the next play, he stood tall in the face of a rush before throwing a high pass into the middle of the end zone for Graham. He was 2 of 4 for 35 yards in his first game at Lambeau since September 28. "Man, he's been awesome", Tomlin said.

Perhaps the most interesting thing about the case is the fact that the teenager doesn't appear to have hacked Apple out of spite or desire for money.

Further analysis found that the schoolboy successfully accessed "authorised keys" as part of his offending.

So why did the teen hack Apple?

The teen went undetected for a long period of time until Apple finally noticed an intrusion and blocked his IP address. "It's not right, but for tech teens, it can be a part of growing up. there's usually a really anxious teen and family at the end of this sort of court case". It reports that he had hacked into the firm because he was a huge fan and dreamed of working there.

Apple recently became the first company in the history of the world to hit a market cap of Dollars $1 trillion.
