Saudi King wouldn't last 'two weeks' without USA support

Oil holds near four-year highs as Saudi Russia agree supply rise

President Donald Trump made a harsh remark about Saudi Arabia which is its close ally, he warned Saudi Arabia's King Salman he would not last in power "for two weeks" without the backing of the US military. However, analysts are warning prices could go up to $100 a barrel as the world's production is already stretched and Mr. Trump's sanctions on Iran's oil industry take effect in early November. "You have to pay for your military, you have to pay'".

King Salman but I said, 'King, we are protecting you.

Saudi Arabia is the world's top oil exporter and the de facto leader of the oil producing bloc, OPEC, which has been criticised by Trump for high oil prices.

However, Mr. Trump's comments on Saudi Arabia implied the kingdom's Al Saud monarchy, which oversees the holiest sites in Islam, would collapse without American military support.

While the United States does not have any military bases in Saudi Arabia, neighboring Qatar hosts a large American contingent at Al Udeid Airbase.

The US military was stationed in Saudi Arabia from the first Gulf War against Iraq in 1990 to 2003, when then Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld announced pullout. Would you say they are rich?

The Americans, who had gotten off to a 3-0 start in the morning, were immediately on their back foot, and they never recovered. His performance came despite ending a five-year wait to win a PGA Tour title, the PGA Championship, the weekend before.

Trump made Saudi Arabia his first stop on his maiden worldwide trip as president past year.

Saudi Arabia has always been a major buyer of USA weaponry, spending billions of dollars on advanced systems, a point Trump was keen to make when Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman visited the White House in March.

Saudi-owned Al Arabiya TV reported that the pair discussed efforts to maintain supplies to ensure the stability of the oil market and the growth of the global economy.

Earlier today, Reuters reported that Saudi Arabia and Russian Federation had agreed to a private deal last month to quietly increase production between September and December to rein in the rising oil prices, allegedly keeping the United States in the loop about their plans. The price hit $85.45 on Monday, its highest since November 2014.

USA crude inventories rose by 907,000 barrels, the American Petroleum Institute said on Tuesday, ahead of Wednesday's official supply report due at 1430 GMT. They partially relaxed the cut in June, under pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump to cool prices.

He has also pressed other USA allies, such as Japan, South Korea and Germany, to take more of the financial burden of their defense.
