We will 'break sanctions proudly': Rouhani

US motorists will not welcome any price rise at the pump

"Moscow will do everything it can to preserve and expand worldwide trade, economic and financial cooperation with Iran despite the USA sanctions", the state-run TASS news agency declares, citing the Russian foreign ministry.

The new sanctions were particularly aimed at Iran's vital oil industry, which provides a crucial source of hard currency.

Trump on Friday evening reasserted his openness to reaching a new Iran deal "that forever blocks its path to a nuclear weapon, addresses the entire range of its malign actions, and is worthy of the Iranian people".

The United States is reimposing sanctions that were lifted under the 2015 nuclear deal in exchange for curbs on Iran's nuclear activities.

The second wave of renewed USA sanctions on OPEC's third largest exporter officially started on Monday targeting Iran's energy, shipbuilding, shipping, and financial sectors.

"We'll see what happens with Iran".

Alamolhoda, an influential figure on the government's Assembly of Experts, told his followers that Iran would launch a missile attack against "all Persian Gulf countries" in the event its oil markets are curtailed. Oil is the country's top export.

Tensions over Iran's nuclear program have been running high since the United States unilaterally withdrew from the 2015 JCPOA.

Trump said in a statement Friday that the objective is to force Iran's leaders to choose either to abandon what he calls Iran's "destructive behavior" or to "continue down the path toward economic disaster".

"This new american president (...) has discredited what was left of the prestige of the United States and of democracy", tweeted Saturday, the supreme leader of iran, Ali Khamenei.

Jobs Market Growing, US Unemployment Decreasing
That, in part, reflects that inflation was higher in those periods, but also that worker productivity was growing more rapidly. The Federal Reserve has been raising short-term rates to try to prevent the economy and inflation from expanding too fast.

"We regret the re-imposition of sanctions by the U.S.", May's spokesman James Slack said.

The countries allowed to keep buying oil from Iran temporarily under the sanctions include China's two biggest oil customers, China and India, Pompeo announced.

He also stated that over 20 importing nations have already "zeroed out" their crude oil purchases, "taking more than one million barrels of crude oil per day off the market".

"America wanted to cut to zero Iran's oil sales. but we will continue to sell our oil.to break sanctions", Rouhani said. "We are intent on ensuring that global funds stop flowing to the coffers of the Iranian regime". "We have no problem to talk on the condition that the other side attaches value to its obligation", Rouhani said during a meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. Other parties to the deal, including Britain, France, Germany, China and Russian Federation, have said they will not leave.

Britain said on Monday it regretted the decision to reimpose sanctions on Iran.

However she said it was "yet to be seen" if these measures would be effective when balanced against the risk of being cut off from the U.S. market. In fact, Iran's oil exports may go up and not down this month, according to RT's Boom Bust.

Iran will continue to sell its crude oil in the worldwide market despite "cruel" USA new sanctions, Rouhani said.

Iran's exports peaked at 2.8 million barrels per day (BPD) in April, including 300,000 barrels per day of condensate, a lighter form of oil that when underground tends to exists as gas.

U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures CLc1 were at $62.86 a barrel at 0800 GMT, down 24 cents, or 0.4 percent, from their last settlement.
