Trump confirms he will pick William Barr as his next attorney general

Reports Trump Will Pick Heather Nauert to Be UN Ambassador

Nauert - a former anchor of "Fox and Friends", among the television-loving Trump's favourite shows - became the spokeswoman of the State Department with no foreign policy experience.

By selecting State Department spokeswoman and former Fox News anchor Heather Nauert as his next United Nations ambassador, President Donald Trump has further consolidated his control of America's foreign policy. Nauert's job as spokeswoman at State is "to read talking points and explain policy", McFaul tweeted.

But her relationship with current Secretary of State Mike Pompeo appears to have been better.

Nauert, 48, has been back and forth between her husband and two sons in NY and her job in Washington, D.C. Nauert was mostly a polished and unflappable defender of administration policy, smoothing over frequent rifts between the Trump's first secretary of state, Rex Tillerson, and the White House.

She also got a major promotion, becoming the acting under-secretary for public diplomacy and public affairs, the fourth highest official at the State Department.

One of the reports came from Fox News, where Ms Nauert has previously worked as a presenter.

Anthony Martial steps up for Manchester United in big clash yet again
Liverpool moved back to within two points of City, the defending champions, and the top two remain unbeaten after 15 of 38 games.

She has been the front runner for the United Nations post for some weeks and last month President Trump said she was under "under very serious consideration". "If confirmed, I look forward to continuing the outstanding job Ambassador Haley has done representing your administration and the American people". Nauert has served as a spokesperson for the State Department since April 2017. She oversaw public diplomacy in Washington and all of the roughly 275 overseas USA embassies, consulates and other posts.

If she gets confirmed, it is unclear if Trump will plan to keep the United Nations ambassador as a Cabinet position, a status that would give Nauret more influence in the administration.

Nauret now faces Senate approval and will need to tackle questions on her lack of experience in the field.

And, last but not least, no one would deny Nauert's attractiveness, which seems crucial in the noble role of being the "US face" and White House policy mouthpiece overseas, doesn't it?

He said USA influence is at a "low ebb", partly because of the absence of empowered ambassadors under Trump. In a speech in Brussels this week, Pompeo made his doubts about the organization clear, asking, "Does it continue to serve its mission faithfully?"

Trump told reporters last month the former Fox News anchor was "under very serious consideration". She also reported from the Republican and Democratic conventions, presidential debates and the inauguration. With a master's degree from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, she had moved to Fox from ABC News, where she was a general assignment reporter.
