Man Triggers Police Operation After Shouting 'Why Don't You Die?' at Spider

Wanneroo Police tweeted about the incident before deleting

A man with a "serious fear" of spiders prompted an emergency call by Western Australia police on New Years' Day.

You have to hand it to the passerby who called the cops after hearing a chap yelling "why don't you die?" along with the cries of a toddler.

And despite the blip, the force said the passerby did the "right thing" in calling police and that officers were "very pleased" the incident turned out differently to how they feared. "Caller doesn't now [sic] them, but has seen them a few times when walking", a screenshot of the incident's police log that was initially tweeted out stated.

Officers, who arrived about 20 minutes later, gave an update, The Guardian reported.

Wanneroo Police this morning tweeted that a walker had heard a male shouting "Why don't you die" repeatedly. He apologized to the police for any inconvenience they may have experienced by having to visit his home because of the screams.

U.S. Strategic Command deletes New Year's tweet about dropping bombs
Stratcom, based at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska, is one of ten unified command centers for USA military. A STRATCOM spokesman, speaking to NBC News, clarified that the images on the video showed non-nuclear bombs.

A call log from the incident was posted to the Wanneroo Police Twitter page, but it has since been deleted.

WA Police force told i the incident was something the officers involved "will definitely remember". The police log would be transcribed in a separate post, the spokesman said.

However, it turns out that the man just had a seriously bad irrational fear of spiders. Australia is home to almost 3,000 species of spider, including the poisonous Redback and Funnel Web.

In 2016, YOU reported that an Eastern brown snake - one of the most venomous snakes in the world - was bested by a fearsome Australian redback spider, also highly venomous, and rated among the 10 deadliest creatures Down Under.
