A 21-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly planning an attack on the White House and other federal buildings.

Hasher Jallal Taheb, 21, of Cumming, Georgia was arrested after unknowingly exchanging his vehicle for weapons and explosives with an Federal Bureau of Investigation agent as part of a sting operation.

The suspect, Hasher Jallal Taheb, was charged with intent to destroy by fire or explosives a building owned by the US, according to CBS 46. (BJay) Pak says Taheb planned to use an improvised explosive device and an anti-tank rocket.

The investigation began after a community member sent in a tip in March 2018 that Taheb had become "radicalized" and made plans to travel overseas, according to the criminal complaint.

The FBI revealed on Wednesday that they were led to Taheb by a tip from a community member who told them he'd been radicalized and changed his name.

Citing an affidavit, Taheb allegedly intended "to attack the White House, and other targets of opportunity in the Washington, D.C., area, by using explosive devices". He allegedly told the informant that "jihad" was the best part of Islam, and explained that achieving it wasn't hard.

He was also arrested in 2012 in Canada for possession of cocaine and heroin for the goal of trafficking, it has been revealed. It is unclear what he did between his release from prison - set for mid-2013 - and his involvement in the Chinese drug case.

Investigators said it is believed Taheb was acting alone.

He also suggested staying inside the United States, he could do "more damage" than if he martyred himself overseas.

He had a plan to target the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial with explosives and weapons, according to NBC.

For one Georgia resident, reality hit fast when federal agents broke up his alleged plot to attack the Trump White House with a variety of explosives. He wanted to use semi-automatic weapons, an "AT-4" anti-tank weapon and hand grenades, the complaint said. He put his vehicle up for sale allegedly to buy the weapons in August of a year ago.

Taheb allegedly met with the undercover agent on January 9 and provided him with two backpacks, stating that he wanted to obtain the weapons within the next week and travel to Washington, D.C., the complaint states.

Then, after they got into the vehicle and closed the doors, agents arrested Mr Taheb.
