What to do about $50000 Jayme Closs reward

People gathered in Cameron Wis. Sunday night to celebrate the safe return of Jayme Closs

Jayme said she thought her kidnapper drove a Ford, which led the deputy to call for backup and run the vehicle's license plate.

Sheriff Fitzgerald told CBS Minnesota on Wednesday they didn't release information about that auto early in the investigation because the deputy wasn't certain what kind of vehicle it was or the year.

Peter Kasinskas said he and his wife, Kristin, don't want the dough and that if anyone, the 13-year-old girl should get it because "she got herself out".

Of the reward money, half came from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the other $25,000 from the Jennie-O Turkey factory where Closs' parents worked, and where her accused abductor was employed for a day.

The FBI offered a $25,000 reward for any information leading to her rescue.

The FBI and The Jennie-O Turkey Store each contributed $25,000 to the reward, which is still now under review, USA Today reports.

After 88 days in captivity, Jayme escaped from a home where she was being kept and sought help from Patterson's neighbor, who took her into the safety of another neighbor's home.

"The real hero is not me, it's Jayme, who was able to leave the house and find me on the road", Nutter told Law&Crime Network host Heather Hansen. "Jayme was the champion that finally said enough is enough", Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said. "We can't be more proud of Jayme".

Reward: Authorities don't know what to do with the $50,000 reward. Or if it's awarded at all.

She says security confiscated the headband and are yet to return her calls to claim ownership of the confiscated artefact.

Fitzgerald said he will work with the Federal Bureau of Investigation to discuss the reward and where it ends up, according to CNN.

Peace echoed the sheriff, telling ABC News "the reward is still under review".

"That's a question for someone else other than me", District Attorney Brian Wright said Monday. She told investigators that she was often forced under her captor's bed and blocked in by weights.

The two of them then went to the Kasinskas' home to contact authorities. Together, they called police to let them know Jayme was alive and well.

The woman who found Closs, Jeanne Nutter, told her story to the Law&Crime Network in an interview last Friday, less than 24 hours after she discovered the teen. "It is her. I 100% think it is her". That's when she found Nutter.

A girl who was abducted from her family home was nearly rescued by police as she was taken, but authorities were 20 seconds too late and even unknowingly drove past the auto she was in.

The man accused of kidnapping a Wisconsin teenager and killing her parents filled out an online job application to work at a liquor distributor just hours before she escaped, CBS Minnesota reported.

21-year-old Jake Patterson has been charged with two counts of intentional homicide and a count of kidnapping and armed burglary in connection with the case.
