So after a long wait and rumours about curved displays on smartphones, Samsung has announced their new product, the Galaxy Round which sports the curved display panel. This gigantic smartphone is like their Galaxy Note 3 without a stylus or S-Pen as they call it, but comes with a fancy new style display that allows a more unique look to the overall body of the device. Apart from it’s curved screen, is it really worth it?
For those who really love the extra large screen size smartphones, they will definitely enjoy the Samsung Galaxy Round with it’s curved display panel that offers it a very unique design on the market. The curved 5.7 inch display allows the whole device to be curved which may offer a slightly better grip for such a large size device as it can rest on the palm of your hands much easily. We think that holding this device will be much easier than the Galaxy Note 3 and it’s 5.7 inch display with a very flat body design as it doesn’t feature the new curved display panel.
Apart from the unique curved display of the Samsung Galaxy Round, the device is exactly like the Galaxy Note 3 without the S-pen stylus. Both device’s specs, camera and display size and dimensions are identical, which makes the Galaxy Round not a very attractive switch if you already own the Note 3. But if the unique design that allows the body to bend is attractive enough for you then by all means, go for it. You can see how the design of the device’s body is not flat on the picture to the right. However, we would have liked it if Samsung had chosen a stronger material instead of a plastic body and used aluminum like the HTC One or glass like the Sony Xperia series.

Apart from the Galaxy Round’s unique curved body due to the innovative curved display panel technology, it does offer the latest specs in the mobile smartphone industry, especially the 3GB of RAM you get which no other device except for the Note 3 has on the market. It’s incredibly large 5.7 inch display can tedious to carry around in the pocket, but if you don’t mind large screen size smartphones, we believe that the Galaxy Round is the better choice over the Note 3 as the curved body will allow it to be much easier to grip on the palm of you hands. However, we think that Samsung could’ve chosen a slightly smaller size to use the curved display panel technology as it may offer an easier one hand use experience than just rehashing a device exactly like the gigantic Galaxy Note 3. Also, a more premium build quality would have differentiated this product from their Galaxy S4 and Note 3 lineups and to go along with the creative new look due to the curved display panel.
Overall, the Galaxy Round’s latest specs and design will certainly offer users with a speedy and enjoyable experience with a much easier grip than the Note 3. Let us know what you think about this new product line by Samsung on the comments below.
