Here are a list of smartphones that are waterproof and/or durable of this year. We are well over halfway into the year of 2014 and if you’re thinking of buying a reliable smartphone, summer isn’t a bad time pick one up. Or, if getting the latest smartphone isn’t for you, you can check out 2013’s best waterproof and durable smartphones. Buying a waterproof and durable smartphone is a great investment if you want to avoid the hassle of fixing or replacing the damaged exterior or shattered glass of your device. It’s perfect for use during the summer and will handle your pool side, beach and heavy impact adventures.
The Sony Xperia Z2 is 2014’s version of the Xperia Z series. It builds upon last year’s waterproof and durable Xperia Z smartphone that enables this smartphone to function under water environments. A shatterproof glass will also keep the display glass from cracking upon dropping the Xperia Z2. However, the design of this smartphone isn’t as rugged so we don’t know how much hard impact it can really take, but a shatterproof glass will allow it to handle some physical impact. On the other hand, if you want to be able to take your smartphone on a simple summer adventure, like snapping photos or capturing 4K video in the pool or use it at the beach, then go ahead and have fun with this smartphone – it should hold up nicely.
The All New HTC One or HTC One M8 is 2014’s version of the HTC One M7. The M8 is built almost exactly like it’s predecessor with the aluminium unibody design. This design style offers a durable and premium feel to the smartphone instead of a flimsy cheap plastic design smartphone, like the 2014 Samsung Galaxy S5. Some have given the M8 a torture test and it demonstrates how durable this smartphone is. However, the drawback with the HTC One M8 is that it isn’t waterproof. Although it’s not waterproof, if you’re looking for a premium and durable Android device, the HTC One M8 is an excellent choice.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 Active, like its predecessor, Galaxy S4 Active, is a smartphone built for outdoor use. It is waterproof and has an outer design built to withstand strong impact. The original Samsung Galaxy S5 is waterproof, for only 30 minutes, but it isn’t as rugged as the S5 Active and would also feel flimsy. The Galaxy S5 Active’s plastic but really rugged build can also act as an excellent grip, rendering the need for a case unnecessary. It’s military specification definitely makes it the smartphone to carry with you for an adventure without worrying about possible damages on it because this device’s rugged build is waterproof and durable.
