GARRACK gives Dandadan notifications a dramatic entrance

A watch notification normally announces that another app would like a small piece of your day. GARRACK’s Dandadan collection gives the interruption a more theatrical job. Your wrist will be able to respond as though an enemy has entered the scene. Honestly, some group chats have been preparing for this role for years.

GARRACK’s October 30 announcement brings five Dandadan watches to Japan at ¥10,890 each, tax included. Preorders open November 6; sales start November 27.

The little reactions are the point

Momo, Okarun, Aira, Jiji and Turbo Granny get character faces. Notifications trigger reactions; the cat version changes pose with step counts. A spare black strap is included.

This is the appealing part of a character watch: the theme participates in something you already do, rather than merely sitting behind the time. The right question is which reaction you would still enjoy seeing repeatedly. A favourite character can make a tiny interaction charming; choosing purely from the loudest promotional picture is less reliable.

Look at the face examples as everyday screens, too. Can you quickly spot the time and the information you actually want? Animation is welcome to have a small victory lap, but it should not make you hold a committee meeting with your own wrist to read a number.

Give the battery claim its settings back

The product page lists iOS/Android support through HUAWEI Health. Claimed battery life reaches 14 days under specified conditions, but about three days with always-on display. Actual runtime varies.

That gap matters if your preferred look depends on keeping the face visible. Compare the mode you intend to use, rather than assigning the longest advertised runtime to every setting. We have not tested endurance, notification behaviour or the companion-app experience, so these remain manufacturer specifications rather than our measurements.

A Japan launch, with a practical checklist

The announcement does not provide a Canadian launch. Before considering an import, check delivery, local support, return arrangements and the companion-app requirements for your own phone. The price above is Japanese yen, not a converted Canadian offer; an overseas checkout needs its own total.

Our earlier GARRACK Kaguya coverage offers another example of the brand’s character-watch approach, and the Wearables & XR desk follows broader choices. The takeaway is delight with a little homework: choose the face you want to live with, then check the settings and buying conditions. Turbo Granny may get the dramatic entrance. Your budget still gets final approval.
