XPPen Magic Pro 13 opens preorders with different US and Canada shipping dates

A drawing tablet can have two quite different careers. One involves catching an idea before it escapes on the bus. The other involves sitting beside a computer while you argue politely with layers, files and a deadline. Asking one device to do both is an attractive proposal. The interesting part is the handover.

Two modes, one drawing habit

XPPen’s October 27 announcement opens orders for Magic Pro 13, a standalone Android 16 drawing tablet that also serves as a pen display for a compatible computer over full-featured USB-C.

The US store lists US$899.99 with estimated November 13 shipping; Canada lists CAD$1,259.96 with estimated December 4 shipping. Both are preorder listings.

That difference deserves a place beside the price, especially if you are buying for a course, a project or somebody’s birthday. Order opening and parcel arrival are separate events. Before retiring a working setup, get the delivery estimate for your destination and allow your current tools to keep earning their modest little keep.

Start with the apps you already use. Try moving a typical project between your mobile and desktop software, including its layers, brushes and fonts. A successful transfer is more useful than an impressive demo file somebody has prepared for the occasion. The drawing should survive the journey with its dignity intact.

Let your own work judge it

XPPen specifies a 3K screen adjustable to 120Hz and an X4 stylus with 16K pressure levels. These are manufacturer specifications; we have not tested the tablet.

For an artist, the sensible demonstration begins with a familiar brush and an ordinary piece of work. Look at slow curves, quick marks and the way your palm rests while drawing. Check whether the surface and pen feel comfortable together. A long specification list cannot decide what your hand will enjoy doing for an afternoon.

Then test the desk arrangement. Ask the seller to confirm compatibility with the computer and cable you intend to use, and demonstrate the connection before buying extra accessories. Think about where the tablet will sit, how your keyboard remains reachable and whether a cable crosses the space where your elbow would rather live.

XPPen also lists a Dimensity 8300 processor, 8GB memory and 256GB storage.

Our Pixelmator Pro selection coverage looks at another part of the creative workflow: making the software tools suit the job. For a broader tablet-and-computer approach, our 12-inch Surface Pro coverage offers a useful comparison in form and working habits.

The Magic Pro 13 is worth investigating when you regularly sketch away from the desk and finish at a computer. Build the buying decision around that actual journey, then check the regional preorder terms. A tablet with two jobs sounds rather industrious. It should still make your own working day easier.
