Vivo’s European audio range: three fits

A headphone shortlist is more useful when it begins with your day, rather than a contest to find the most dramatic noise-cancelling number. Do you want something in the ear, around the ear, or clipped beside it? Vivo’s European audio range now puts all three approaches in the same shop window. Your ears have, quite reasonably, requested a vote.

Vivo’s October 27 Swiss release confirms regional availability of three audio products alongside its phones.

Buds Ultra: check the phone-side features

The Buds Ultra page describes hybrid drivers and LDAC. Adaptive mode needs a compatible vivo/iQOO phone; other phones require the vEarphones app.

That makes compatibility part of the feature, rather than a small chore for after delivery. Before comparing badges, check which controls you will actually have on your device. An impressive setting that cannot join your routine is effectively a beautifully dressed guest who never makes it through the front door.

Headphones Studio: the battery numbers are a pair

For Headphones Studio, vivo lists up to 75 hours with ANC off and 35 hours with it on. Those lab claims use AAC at 50% volume. Device switching can cover three devices.

That on/off distinction is the useful bit. Compare the setting you expect to use, not whichever number looks nicest at the top of a page. Also think about where an over-ear pair will live when you are not wearing it. The bag-space question has a habit of arriving just after the excitement has finished packing.

Buds Clip: a different listening job

The Buds Clip store listing identifies an open-ear design weighing 5.2g per side.

Start by deciding whether leaving the ear canal open is the experience you want. It is a different priority from trying to disappear into a sealed listening bubble. There is no prize for choosing the most elaborate product if the simpler form is the one you comfortably reach for every morning.

Now give the shortlist a real-world test. DeviceCritique has not tested these models. Fit, useful controls, leakage and the listening balance you enjoy should decide between them; manufacturer descriptions cannot answer every one of those questions. Compare the complete delivered price and local service arrangement in your own market, too. The Swiss announcement does not establish a Canadian offer.

Our open-ear versus ANC guide helps narrow the type of product first. Then the audio buying guide puts traits and budget alongside each other. Let the shortlist become smaller before the specification sheet becomes longer. That is an entirely respectable little victory.
