EDIFIER WH880NB reaches Japan, with a catch in its 120-hour claim

A headphone battery claim can make your charging cable sound unemployed. Lovely thought. Before the cable starts planning its farewell lunch, though, EDIFIER’s new Japanese launch has a setting that deserves a rather large asterisk.

EDIFIER’s October 30 Japanese announcement puts the WH880NB at ¥10,980 including tax.

The impressive number has a quieter sibling

The headline is up to 120 hours with active noise cancellation off. Turn ANC on and EDIFIER quotes about 60 hours. A 15-minute charge is claimed to supply 18 hours of playback.

That is a useful comparison, because those two modes describe different listening plans. If cancelling the train is the main reason you want these headphones, judge the shorter figure. The longer one belongs to the mode you might choose at a quiet desk, rather than a bonus automatically attached to every journey.

Neither number is our measurement. We have not tested the WH880NB’s endurance, sound or noise cancellation. For a real comparison, keep your usual volume and intended settings attached to the specification; a large number detached from the way you listen is mostly excellent typography.

The USB-C socket does more than recharge

The product page lists USB-C digital audio and active 3.5mm AUX input alongside Bluetooth, with SBC, AAC and LDAC codecs. Bluetooth 6.0, multipoint and Google Fast Pair are also listed.

Here is the handy distinction: a connector and a listening mode are separate decisions. Check whether the computer, player or phone you intend to use supports the chosen route and codec. A photograph of a compatible-looking socket is the start of that check, not its completion.

EDIFIER calls the analogue input active. Do not assume a cable automatically promises passive playback with an empty battery; check the powered-use requirements for your setup. That matters much more on a long trip than collecting every logo on the box.

Keep the offer and the fit in different columns

The advertised Japanese launch discount runs through November 15, bringing the tax-inclusive price to ¥8,784. Check the applicable coupon or retailer terms; the store still displays its regular price before the coupon.

This is a Japanese offer, not a Canadian price or verified Canadian launch. Importing needs its own total, support arrangements and return plan. Currency conversion alone is an enthusiastic little shortcut that skips several expensive lines.

Fit deserves its own decision, too. Check how the cups sit around your ears and whether the controls are convenient for you. A specification sheet cannot feel an awkward pressure point on your behalf.

Our audio buying guide helps compare priorities, while the audio desk follows alternatives. Put the settings beside the battery figure, then decide whether the whole package suits your day. The charging cable can postpone its retirement party until then.
