OPPO Pad Mini opens Malaysian orders with an 8.8-inch matte OLED screen
OPPO’s Pad Mini Matte Display Edition has reached the Malaysian order page with a very particular invitation: put a small OLED screen in your bag, then go somewhere with nicer lighting than your desk. As of October 24, the official store lists Lavender Purple at RM3,499, including taxes, against a crossed-out RM3,699. The page separates delivery from October 22 for Deal Pack customers and from October 30 for the first preorder batch.
That is a Malaysian listing and a current promotional price, rather than a Canadian release or a permanent global price. The delivery distinction matters too: a date for one order group is not a promise that every new order arrives that day. Tiny tablet, surprisingly grown-up calendar.
A smaller OLED canvas, with a matte finish
The regional product page describes an 8.8-inch, 2520 × 1680 OLED screen with a matte surface. Its maximum 144Hz refresh rate applies to supported apps. At approximately 282g and 5.46mm thick, it is a different proposition from a large tablet that has gradually become a laptop, a keyboard case and a mildly inconvenient relationship.

The interesting part is the combination. OLED gives OPPO a canvas for rich contrast, while the matte finish aims to make reflections less distracting. We have not tested the panel or its texture. Still, the idea of opening a comic, checking a photograph or reading a chapter on something smaller than a dinner tray has a very understandable charm.
And the little screen has something to do besides look pretty.
The pen tools are built around collecting ideas
OPPO pairs the tablet with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and ColorOS 16. Its Pencil 3 workflow can circle text or images and move them between windows; drawing tools can turn a selected rough sketch into an AI-assisted image. The Malaysian store currently lists a Smart Case and Pencil 3 as gifts, with stated values of RM199 and RM299. Those are the listed gift values, not extra charges we have added to the tablet.
Collecting a reference without losing the note beside it is the sort of small creative convenience that could matter more than an enormous benchmark chart. A sketch can stay wonderfully scruffy while the idea develops. Not every little doodle needs the AI equivalent of a full salon appointment before it is allowed out.

There is room for a substantial battery in that small body.
An 8,000mAh battery, without a universal endurance promise
The listed typical capacity is 8,000mAh, with 67W wired charging support. Those specifications do not establish our own runtime result. Games, pen work and a long reading session ask different things of a tablet; we have not measured how this model behaves across them.
For another compact-tablet approach, our Honor Tablet X10 Mini report covers a different price bracket in China. The Lenovo Yoga update-policy story follows the longer view. OPPO’s new Malaysian option is aimed at the person who wants a small screen with rather larger creative ambitions. The lavender finish is allowed to help with the introduction. It just does not get to take credit for your lovely handwriting.
