Wolfbox K9 Pro puts colour cabin recording on its dash-cam wish list

A dash cam has a wonderfully unglamorous dream job: sit quietly, record the journey and become useful on a day you would rather not be having. Wolfbox’s new K9 Pro adds a more ambitious request—keep the cabin in colour after dark, too.

Wolfbox’s November 2 US announcement lists the three-channel system at US$499.99 without an SD card. The company says it records 4K HDR at the front and 2.5K inside and behind the vehicle, all at 30 frames per second in that three-camera arrangement.

Colour and cleaner speech are the headline claims

The manufacturer calls its cabin-imaging system ColorAlive and its dual-microphone noise processing NoiseShield. Its pitch is clearer cabin detail and speech when road noise and poor light would otherwise get in the way.

That sounds useful. It is also something that deserves real footage and audio, not a verdict based on a feature name. Check how recordings look when the vehicle moves, the light changes and passengers are not sitting in a perfectly lit promotional scene. We have not independently tested this camera.

The memory card gets a separate invitation

The official product page says a microSD card is not included, recommends 128GB as the minimum for recording, and lists support up to 2TB. Parking recording requires a hardwire kit.

So the camera price is the beginning of the setup budget. Check the correct card requirements, the wiring arrangement and installation costs before deciding that the shopping is finished. The tiny rectangle that stores the evidence would like to be included in this plan.

The release also describes a Bluetooth remote as an upcoming, separately launched accessory. Do not assume it is supplied in the box or already available just because the main camera has been announced.

Plan for the recording you will actually keep

More camera angles mean more things to consider: where to mount them, how to route the cables neatly, and whether an interior camera is appropriate for the way you use the vehicle. Keep sightlines and normal vehicle operation clear when planning an installation.

Before relying on any dash cam, make a short recording while safely parked, check that the files can be opened, and learn how to preserve an important clip. A camera that was recording is only useful if you can find and retrieve the recording later.

For a broader look at the information connected cars collect and use, our Android Auto personal-intelligence report explores another part of the cabin’s growing digital workload. Our Automotive Tech desk follows the wider picture.

The takeaway: K9 Pro is a US launch with ambitious imaging and audio claims, a separate memory-card purchase and an additional requirement for parking mode. Confirm the current seller’s stock, full kit contents and installation needs. The best kind of dash-cam drama is still the kind you never need to watch.
