LUMOS outlines four budget tablets—and a RAM number worth unpacking
A budget tablet should make choosing a sofa companion easier. It should not send you into a detective drama involving brackets in a specification table. Yet here we are, magnifying glass politely out.
In a November 3 manufacturer-issued announcement distributed by Media OutReach, LUMOS outlined its four-model Singapore tablet range. Treat this as a current range-and-pricing announcement, rather than evidence that every model first went on sale today.
The four prices, without the sales confetti
- LUMOS Tablet — S$149: a 10.1-inch model pitched at reading, browsing and streaming.
- Tablet Pro — S$269: a 10.1-inch Full HD model with dual 4G SIM support.
- Tablet Ultra — S$449: a 12-inch model with a 2K display and an 8,000mAh battery.
- Kids Tablet — S$139: aimed at ages three to nine, with a child-focused interface and parental controls.
All four are Singapore-dollar prices from the announcement. The kids model is cheaper than the S$149 starting point used in the release’s headline, so the headline alone is not the whole shopping list.

About that “32GB” Ultra claim
Here’s the important bit. The Ultra’s product specification table writes the memory figure as 32GB (8GB + 24GB). The split needs an explanation before treating it as 32GB of installed physical RAM. The row is labelled “Processing Speed”, and this page does not clearly explain the two components. Confirm the physical-memory amount with LUMOS before using the headline number to compare devices.
Where a device’s advertised total includes expanded or virtual memory, that component uses storage to supplement memory management. It is not equivalent to the same quantity of physical RAM. A big combined number alone does not establish how quickly your apps will run. The brackets are doing quite a lot of overtime.
The same table lists 256GB storage, Android 16 and a 2000 × 1200 IPS screen. Those details help frame the intended use, but they do not establish gaming performance, display quality or how long software support will last. We have not tested the tablet.

Choose the job before the model name
For a reading-and-video device, start with the apps and streaming services you actually use. Check their compatibility and the quality levels they support on the exact model. For mobile data, check supported bands, the SIM arrangement and your own plan; a SIM slot does not include a data subscription.
For a child’s tablet, spend time understanding how the parental controls work before handing it over. “Kids” on the box is a starting point for that conversation, not the finished setup.
If you are comparing a compact premium alternative, our iPad mini coverage provides a separate Canadian pricing context. It is not a direct currency conversion or a claim that these devices offer the same experience.
The useful takeaway: compare the actual screen, connectivity, support and physical memory behind each price. Our tablet desk follows the wider choices. A small bill is nice. A small bill for the thing you needed is considerably nicer.
