MSI details a 340Hz Mini LED monitor with 1,152 dimming zones
MSI, that is quite a lot of monitor you’re trying to squeeze onto one desk. The MAG 276QRM34 pairs a 27-inch Rapid IPS panel with 2560 × 1440 resolution, quantum-dot technology and an overclocked refresh rate of up to 340Hz, according to the company’s Chinese product listing. Fast games and bright HDR in the same display? All right, you have our attention.
Come a little closer. The backlight is the interesting bit.
Mini LED is the other headline
MSI lists 1,152 full-array local-dimming zones and VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification, alongside a minimum grey-to-grey response time of 0.5ms. These are manufacturer specifications; DeviceCritique has not tested them. The numbers can introduce themselves, but they don’t get to write their own glowing review.

The idea is quick motion for competitive games and finer brightness control for HDR. That is a useful pairing if your evening swings between fast matches and dramatic, shadowy adventures. How well it works will depend on the backlight algorithm, bright-to-dark transitions and the settings in use.
Before we get too fond of the spec sheet, though…
What still needs testing
A four-digit zone count cannot tell us how obvious halos will be around bright objects on dark backgrounds. And a minimum response time tells us neither how every pixel transition behaves nor how much overshoot appears at different refresh rates. Little glowing outlines are cute on stickers; on a dark game scene, less so. Independent measurements and real game scenes need to settle those questions.

Before making room on your desk
One practical pause before clearing desk space: the source is MSI’s China site, which may be inaccessible in some regions. It does not establish a Canadian or US release date or price. Check the exact regional specification and warranty against locally sold displays before treating this as a purchase option. The monitor has made an introduction, not a local delivery promise.
