Nothing Phone (4b) reaches Japan: price, sales and shipping dates

A phone that asks you to look at its back is making an interesting little proposal. Could a carefully chosen light be enough, instead of another full-screen detour? That is a more appealing question than whether a handset can produce the longest feature list. Sometimes the useful trick is knowing when to leave it alone.

Sales and delivery

Nothing Phone (4b) sales begin in Japan on October 27. SoftBank’s dated notice confirms its unlocked Free Style offering starts that day.

Nothing’s October 20 announcement priced 8GB/128GB at ¥59,800 including tax. The selected direct-store configuration currently lists early-November shipping. Blue is Rakuten Mobile-exclusive in Japan.

That is the first detail to settle if you are replacing a broken handset or buying ahead of a journey. Compare the actual delivery estimate for the colour you want, rather than treating a sales-opening date as a promise about the parcel. The calendar has a habit of being less flexible than the shopping mood.

Give the light a job

The hardware combines Snapdragon 6 Gen 4, a 6.77-inch AMOLED display up to 120Hz, a 5,200mAh battery and a 50MP main camera with optical stabilisation. The Japanese model supports FeliCa and eSIM. Its Glyph Bar displays selected alerts and timers.

The attraction of a rear light is fairly personal. Picture the phone lying face down beside a keyboard: which alerts deserve your attention, and which can wait? If you would customise the signals to make that distinction, the feature has a job to do. If every notification gets promoted to a special occasion, you may simply have built a smaller disco.

The Japanese issuer release specifies Android 16-based Nothing OS 4.1 and promises three years of Android upgrades plus six years of security updates.

Software support belongs in the comparison alongside the camera and screen. Think about how long you normally keep a phone and which services need to remain dependable. Our OnePlus 15 update coverage illustrates why the market and the software version deserve careful reading.

Physical habits matter too. Try the size in a pocket, look at the controls you reach for most often and consider how you will carry it through an ordinary day. Our foldable-phone comparison starts from that same everyday-use question, even though the hardware takes a very different shape.

There is room for a phone to have a little personality. Give the bright idea a clear purpose, check the regional model and delivery details, and let it audition for your own routine. A tasteful blink may be all the drama your desk needs.
