Anker Liberty Buds 2 launches in Japan with a smaller fit
Tiny earbuds have an impressive talent for making a shopping decision feel like a tiny engineering degree. This pair arrives with an AI chip, a numbered noise-cancelling system and, mercifully, a much more human question: will they stay comfortable while you get on with your day?
Anker Japan’s October 29 launch brings Liberty Buds 2 at ¥21,990 including tax. The earbuds use Anker’s Thus AI chip and Ultra Noise Cancelling 4.0.
The fit story is worth more than a fancy chip name
The product specifications list about 4.7g per earbud with size-2 wings, five ear-tip sizes and three wing sizes. With noise cancellation on, Anker claims up to seven hours per charge and 27 with the case; actual runtime varies.
Anker says the ear-contact housing volume is about 41% smaller than Liberty 5’s.
That fit kit is a useful reason to slow down during setup. Try a sensible combination, check the seal, then wear the buds long enough to notice pressure rather than declaring victory after twelve seconds. One ear is allowed to be awkward. It has probably been waiting years for its moment in product management.

Here is what the AI badge does not settle
A processor name can explain a design approach; it cannot tell you whether a call will sound clear in your particular windy corner or whether an earbud feels comfortable after lunch. Treat noise cancellation, microphone quality and sound as separate questions when looking for independent tests.
For a practical comparison, choose the sound you most want reduced and the place you take calls most often. Then look for evidence that resembles those conditions. A quiet-room voice sample and a journey past construction work are different auditions, even when both are introduced by somebody saying the word flagship with great conviction.

Use the listening mode that matches the battery number
Keep your usual listening setup beside the runtime claim. Volume, calls and feature choices can change how long a charge lasts, so the most generous headline number is not automatically your commuting number. Decide what a comfortable margin would be for you, then compare like-for-like settings between products.
Also separate the current Japanese price from any coupon or future-store-credit promotion. Check eligibility and expiry dates on the official listing before counting an offer as money saved today. This announcement does not establish a Canadian release or a Canadian price, and we have not tested the earbuds ourselves.
Our audio comparison guide helps you shortlist by budget and listening needs; our open-ear versus ANC explainer helps with the bigger question of whether sealing your ears suits the day at all.
The useful takeaway: audition fit first, compare the listening mode you will actually use, and let independent evidence do the convincing. The little chip can have its dramatic entrance. Your ears still get the final vote.
